From Functional and Everyday to Stunning

In many peoples’ lives, there’s a trigger point when they decide to tackle the ‘big’ work in the house. For some it’s when they move in. For others, it’s a lottery win, an inheritance or a change of dynamic, as was the case for Pat and Mark.

Pat says, “After 35 years of marriage and having the last of our four children finish university and preparing to leave home, we decided it was finally our time. The house was paid for but some of the rooms were tired, so we decided to make a few changes whilst we were still young enough to enjoy them.”

The couple refurbished the en-suite; the family bathroom and the downstairs cloakroom, turning them from functional and everyday, to stunning and individual rooms that anyone would be happy to spend time in.

Initially, a builder was invited to quote but Pat decided not to go this route, as he wouldn’t commit to a firm price and he wanted them to source and purchase all the materials.

She says, “I had a feeling it would go up and up and up as the job progressed, so I followed up on a recommendation for Roman Bathrooms. We were looking for a professional one-stop shop solution, from design to installation, which is just what Roman Bathrooms provided. We were more than happy with the way they came round, did a detailed survey and quote, pointed out any potential problem areas that may affect pricings.  They even gave us an all-encompassing quote with no nasty surprises at the end.”

With regard to the ideas, Pat was happy to leave it all to Caroline, who she describes as ‘very professional and full of creativity’. “I just said ‘can you sort it out’” says Pat, “and she did – brilliantly!”

The work took a total of five weeks, during which time Pat was particularly impressed not only with the quality of the workmanship but the workmen’s tidiness!

“There was no skip on the drive – they cleared away every day,” says Pat, “We couldn’t believe it!”

The couple now have their three refurbished rooms to enjoy.  Each one is based around a neutral palette, with its own individual touches to make them stand out.  From the marbled tiles to the panelled ceilings, they’re modern and timeless. And most importantly, somewhere that will see Pat and Mark well into the future.

“We couldn’t be happier,” Pat says.
