A Classic and Timeless Kitchen
Jill is a previous customer of Roman Bathrooms – we did a bathroom for her 3 years ago, so she was well aware of what we had to offer.
This time, we were called in to revamp the kitchen, which included knocking down a wall to extend the size of the room, and incorporate the previously separate cloakroom, into the main body of the room.
It wasn’t a difficult commission for us, but it was important to get the feel of the kitchen right. Jill, along with Bodo, their golden retriever, live in a 1950s house in Hunnington. It’s that middle ground between not being strictly a ‘period’ house, but also not being too modern. To find the right feel, Jill chose a kitchen that updated the feel of the house, whilst still being classic and timeless.
To this end, they chose ivory units, with light wood cornices and plinths to provide contrast. The work surfaces are black granite and the whole room is offset against a beautiful pale blue. The cloakroom also has the same light wood within it, to keep the feel of continuity.
“We are delighted with the results,” says Jill, “especially the double oven, oversize drawers and all the additional lighting. We can’t fault the workmen, who all worked very hard and tried to keep the disruption down to a minimum.
Their workmanship was excellent along with designer Claire’s expertise. She came out to see us several times during the build, making sure everything was happening as planned. The finished product is exactly how I’d imagined.”
