A Spanish Inspired Bathroom in Halesowen
After a long break in the Mediterranean Mr & Mrs May were left inspired by the walk-in showers and sun-kissed sandstone tiles. After speaking to neighbours and friends about refurbishing their own bathroom, they were introduced to Roman Bathrooms and decided to visit the showroom.
The initial brief was to remove a bath, install a walk-in shower with a discreet fan system and create light in the existing tired bathroom. “Roman Bathrooms have a great reputation, some of our neighbours had used them before. We kept walking past the showroom and looking inside – it was so impressive,” says Mr May. “We didn’t think to use anyone else.”
Though a great size for a bathroom, a redundant bath meant that there was a lot of dead space and the room was not particularly functional. “We were fairly open-minded and happy to leave the design to the experts at Roman Bathrooms,” says Mr May.
Inspired by the wet rooms found on the continent, the couple were keen to open the space, improve functionality and create light in the room. Additional lighting in the recess and the elevated shower deck added to the spotlights in the ceiling, accentuated the walk-in shower and created a more sun-kissed feel. “We brainstormed lots of ideas with Caroline and she made the process incredibly easy. We shower a lot more than we bathe and I thought if we are getting rid of the bath, then I want the shower to be the main feature of the room,” said Mr May.
“People look at our bathroom and think it’s stunning – which it is, but nobody realises the extensive preparation behind the work. The process was so professional and smooth, Roman Bathrooms thought of everything and the result is just fantastic.”
